Yogyakarta, known colloquially as Jogja, is a treasure trove of culture and history. It is home to Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat (the Palace of the Sultan of Yogyakarta) – or Keraton for short, the magnificent Borobudur temple, and the awe-inspiring Prambanan temple complex. Dubbed the City of Students, many people from all corners of Indonesia flock into Yogyakarta to pursue higher education. And where there are lots of students, there’s surely plenty of cheap, good eats.
Amelia Hotel is a new budget hotel situated in Mrican, near Jalan Gejayan. It is conveniently located within close proximity to some of the most popular universities in Jogja: Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, Universitas Sanata Dharma, and UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Surrounding the hotel is a selection of pocket-friendly dining spots serving a variety of cuisines – from traditional Indonesian to Thai and even Italian, as well as distros (distribution outlets) where you can find some of Indonesia’s most creative indie clothing brands.
Hidden gem. Sweet staff, new up-and-coming area, new hotel / clean room, good local breakfast. Would stay there again.
Asik juga hotelnya dan dekat dengan tempat makan. Saya baru pulang dari Jogja, untuk yang cari hotel, saya recommendkan menginap di sini.
